After you have made initial contact with EM-STS you will receive a confirmation email and /or telephone call to confirm we have received your inquiry. At this stage we will also explain some potential options and next steps.

Appointments for Initial Assessment

Appointments can be made for an initial assessment with a Speech Therapist quickly and without fuss. Our service aims to arrange appointments and consultations within 2 working days, but often these can be arranged on the same day.

Initial assessments are normally carried out in the home or educational settings with both the child and parents or carers present.  The aim is to try to gain a detailed understanding of the background and the areas of concern. This session is followed up with a report to the parents summarising the Speech Therapist’s observations and options on how to progress.

Ongoing therapy is normally carried out in planned weekly sessions with the Speech & Language Therapist. These sessions can be conducted in the home, in the normal educational location or whatever setting is agreed is best to help your child’s development.

Our support of your child’s Speech & Language Development does not stop once the planned therapy sessions have been completed.

After care follow up assessments can be arranged for a suitable future date that is agreed by all. The aim is simple; to help ensure your child’s development potential is realised.
